The Heart Strings Prayer Project

Was born as a way to weave people together, and channel the power of our collective prayers. The mural displays a heart radiating the serene pink and green hues associated with the heart chakra, symbolizing unconditional love. Our hope is that the shared intentions imbued in this artwork extend far beyond the contributors and observers, reaching the hearts of those without the voice, platform, or community, we have been so abundantly blessed with.

That the golden threads carry our pure intentions to envelop them in a sense of peace and a knowing that they are not alone. Lastly, this is a reminder to be good to each other and our mother. The upcycled cotton ribbon has been botanically printed using natural plant dye, serving as a poignant reminder of the impact our material choices can have on both the environment and our well-being.

As an artist who has had a public social practice now for almost 2 decades, I see and feel the impact on community when a large installation or collaboration takes place within a society, especially when it is linked to other projects and has a flow on effect to those who witness or are part of the creation, that is more powerful than any written word.

Working along side Heidi Holland with this project has been inspiring, rewarding and fulfilling on many levels, developing friendships amongst the artists and those who came to contribute to the writing of the prayers, walking beside each other with so much transparency and authenticity, and its an honour and a privilege to know another artist with a big heart, or as i like to refer to this level of consciousness within our creative networks now, a HeARTIVIST with the same passion and drive as myself.

I look forward to sharing this project on a wider scale and weaving in with my own journey of 50 Shades of Green, another sensitive Heart project, over the coming 12 - 18 months and beyond
